Battleship New Jersey
(Home Port Alliance)

Thomas/Boyd Communications handled publicity and special event planning and management for the return of the USS New Jersey from Seattle, Washington through the Panama Canal. We coordinated the three-day event in Panama, which included the participation of more than 200 dignitaries and 30 members of the international press corps. The event was hosted by New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman and U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg.

We also planned and implemented the official VIP grand opening celebration of the Battleship New Jersey Memorial and Museum on the Camden Waterfront. More than 1,500 guests attended the ribbon-cutting event, including local, state and federal officials, veterans and business leaders. In addition to handling national and regional media interviews, we also coordinated the speaking program. Several New Jersey officials including the Acting Governor of New Jersey and both U.S. Senators from New Jersey, were among the participants.
