Thomas/Boyd Communications Receives Four Awards at The 39th Annual Pepperpot & Achievement Awards

MOORESTOWN, NJ (December 13, 2007) – Thomas/Boyd Communications (TBC) of Moorestown and Princeton received four awards at the 39th Annual Pepperpot & Achievement Awards, sponsored by the Philadelphia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). TBC took home the prestigious Pepperpot Awards, designating 1st place honors, in the categories of Reputation/Brand Management, Annual Report, Media Relations and Pro Bono Program.

Named in 1968 by Bill Parker, then Philadelphia PRSA president and head of Campbell Soup communications, the Pepperpot Awards designate excellence in public relations.

TBC received the Reputation/Brand Management Pepperpot for its yearlong efforts to revitalize the brand of The Evergreens Retirement Community in Moorestown, NJ. The TBC team enlisted the help of a team of graphic designers, copywriters and The Evergreens’ in-house marketing department to implement a multifaceted branding campaign complete with media, community and investor relations and marketing communications. TBC captured the Annual Report Pepperpot for The Evergreens’ 2006 Annual Report, one standout single-piece communication within the overall branding campaign.

The agency’s third Pepperpot in the category of Media Relations recognized its widespread coverage of the restoration and grand opening of the historic Ellis Island Ferry Building. From placements in The New York Times to La Republica, an Italian national daily newspaper, and TV Asahi, a commercial network in Japan, TBC far surpassed its established goals by securing local, national and international print and broadcast media for this momentous event.

TBC accepted its fourth and final Pepperpot in the Pro Bono Program category for its efforts to support J.S. Hovnanian & Sons and others participating in ABC’s “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” in Camden, NJ, for the Marrero family. In addition to managing media relations throughout the build, TBC worked to coordinate volunteers and gather donations to benefit the deserving family.
